  1. Low reactivity metals like silver, mercury, platinum and gold are after sound in free state.
  2. Their reactivity with other atoms is very low.
  3. Oxides of these metals can be reduced to metals by heat alone and sometimes by displacement from their aqueous solution.
    Ex : When cinnabar (HgS) heated in air, first converted into HgO, then reduced to mercury on further heating.
