Both growth and differentiation in higher plants are open. Comment

Plant growth is open, i.e., they grow throughout their life due to following reasons
(i) This is due to the presence of meristems, where cells have the capacity to divide.
(ii) New cells are always added by the meristems and this form of growth is called open form of growth.
(iii) Development in plants is also open, because cells/tissues arising out of the same meristem have different structures at maturity.
(iv) The final structure at maturity of a cell/tissue is determined by the location of the cells ยป within.
