(a) During the Industrial Revolution, cotton clothes became more accessible to a wider section of the people in Europe. Clothes got lighter, shorter and simpler.
(b) The two world wars forced the women to work in factories. The women started wearing a working uniform of blouse and trousers with accessories like scarves which was later replaced by overalls and caps. They stopped wearing jewellery and luxurious clothes.
