(a) Watershed management is a term used to describe the process of implementing land use practices and water management practices to protect and improve the quality of the water and other natural resources within a watershed by managing the use of those land and water resources in a comprehensive manner. Basically, scientific method for soil and water conservation is called watershed management.
Advantages:
- It increases the lift of downstream damns reservoirs.
- It increases production and income of watershed community.
- It helps in mitigation of floods and droughts.
(b) Human beings occupy the top level in any food chain. Due to the top position, the maximum level of bio magnification occurs here because of progressive accumulation. Also, we get very small amount of energy, as only 10% of the previous energy gets transferred at each tropic level.
