To solve this problem botanists assign scientific name to each plant. Scientific name of a plant is used all over the world. The principles and criteria for assigning scientific names to plants are provided in International Code for Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN). For example, scientific name of tomato is Lycopersicon esculentum. This name is used by botanists all over the world.
