A cell of emf (ξ) and internal resistance ® is connected across a variable external resistance ®. Plot graph to show variation of
(i) ξ with R
(ii) Terminal p.d of the cell with Resistance R.

(i) emf is independent of resistance of the circuit, hence on plotting the graph between E and R, We get graph parallel to resistance axis.
