Why were Forest important for the poor people? Explain with the help of examples.

Poor People depend upon the forests to meet their both direct and indirect needs. Forest provides them food, cloth and shelters.
The importance of forest for poor is stated in points below.
(i) Forest are renewable resources so can be regenerated again by plantation.
(ii) Poor People can get Food (fruits, tubers, Yam, seeds) from the forest.
(iii) Forest trees provides construction material (i.e. wood) for the construction of their dwelling.
(iv) Poor can collect and sell fire woods from the Forest . and earn their livelihood.
(v) Forest provides fodder as well as the grazing ground to the live stocks.
(vi) Poor people can also earn their livelihood by becoming forest guide and tourist guide.
