Why does the clear sky appear blue? How would the sky appear in the absence of earth’s atmosphere?
The blue colour of the sky is due to the scattering by molecules of gases in atmosphere. The blue colour being scattered more than any other colour. In the absence of atmosphere on earth, no scattering will occur, therefore, the sky will appear black.
