Functional foremanship is the technique suggested by Taylor. It states that every worker should be supervised by different foremen, who are specialists of their field to improve the quality and efficiency of workers.
Two of its designations are:
(i) Route clerk Route clerk lays down the sequence or path that each operation has to follow for the completion of a particular job. He decides the exact route through which work travels from machine to machine.
(ii) Time and cost clerk He frames the time table for doing various jobs and maintains the records of the cost of work.
