(i) Villagers were given employment in silviculture.
(ii) They were given 25 per cent of the final harvest.
(iii) They were allowed fuel wood and fodder collection on payment of a nominal fee.
Thus, with the active and willing participation of local people a previously worthless forest was later valued to Rs. 12.5 crores
