Respiration is a complex oxidative process implying the formation of several intermediate molecules until, water is produced and ATP is released. Although ATP molecules are consumed in the glycolysis and Krebs’ cycle, there is also production of more molecules of ATP, thus a positive balance of ATP molecules is obtained.
