Marketing is more than selling'. Do you agree?

Yes, marketing is a wider term than selling. Selling is a part of marketing, which includes many other activities. This will be clear from the following points:
(i) Selling is concerned with distribution of goods already produced, whereas, marketing involves
creation of customers, understanding their needs and supplying products and services, which satisfy these needs. „
(ii) Selling involves mere exchange of goods for money between sellers and buyers. Marketing in addition involves activities, such as advertising, marketing research, product planning and development, etc.
(iii) While selling aims at profit maximisation through increased sales volume, marketing aims at profit maximisation through customer satisfaction.
