Information Technology (IT) has revolutionised many sectors in the Indian economy. This fact is described in the following points
(i) The role of IT is justified by the increased ability of the governments to predict areas of food insecurity and vulnerability through its use.
(ii) It also has a positive impact on the agriculture sector as it disseminates the information regarding emerging technologies and its applications, prices, weather and soil conditions, etc.
(iii) It also has a potential of employment generation in rural areas.
(iv) The initiative of private sector along with support from government has made it possible to develop this sector as a sustainable livelihood option.
