Within a poor household, the wage earners and male members are given special treatment. They have the first right of consumption over the available resources.
Other members of the family have to manage on the remaining resources. This group consists of women, elderly people and female children. In poor families, all suffer but this group suffers more. Thus, they are considered as the poorest of the poor.
