(a) (i) The sticky terminal part of the carpel is called stigma. It receives pollen.
(it) The swollen bottom part of the carpel is called ovary. It contains female germ cells which form seed after fertilization.
(b) After fertilization, the zygote divides several times to form an embryo within the ovule. The ovule develops a tough coat and is gradually converted into a seed.
