A person is not able to see distinctly the object placed at large distances but is able to read the matter written on a book comfortably. Name the defect of vision he is suffering from. State two causes for this defect. With the help of a ray diagram show how this defect can be corrected.

The person is suffering from myopia.
This defect may arise due to:
(i) excessive curvature of the eye lens, or (if) elongation of the eyeball.
This defect can be corrected by using a concave lens of suitable power.
