Write a short note on solar cooker.

  • Solar energy is non-polluting, most abundant and readily available form of energy.

Solar Cooker:

  • It consists of thermally insulated box which is insulated from inside by glass wool.
  • Since black colour is the good absorber of heat, the inner surface of the box is painted black.
  • A plane mirror fixed on the top act as a reflector.
  • The box is has double glass lid.
  • The containers in which food is cooked are also painted black.
  • Food to be cooked is placed in the cooker and the solar cooker is placed in the sunlight.
  • Mirror reflects the sunrays.
  • Through glass sheets, sun rays fall on the box where they are absorbed and the food gets cooked.
