What would happen if number of carnivores decreases in an ecosystem?

i) Population of herbivores will increase beyond control.
(it) Autotrophs will disappear from earth due to overgrazing done by hervivores.
(iii) Both these factors may disturb food chains thus affecting the ecosystem.
