The insectivorous mode of nutrition is observed in plants like pitcher plant and the Venus fly trap. They purely depend on other insects and small animals for their nutrition.
Plants like Venus flytrap and Nepenthes are insectivorous plants which feed on insects.The leaves in these plants are modified into structures which can trap insects. Generally, plants cannot utilise atmospheric nitrogen.These plants obtain nitrogen required by them from these insects.These are termed to be parasitic plants.
