"The peace negotiations in Geneva followed the division of Vietnam

“The peace negotiations in Geneva followed the division of Vietnam that set in motion a series of events that turned Vietnam into a battlefield”. Analyse the statement with arguments.

After the peace negotiation in Geneva, the defeated
French troop was removed from Vietnam and there was split between North Vietnam and South Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh and the Communists captured power in North Vietnam and Bao Dai’s regime was established in South Vietnam. This division made Vietnam a battlefield. Here death and destruction of the people and environment became common. A series of events followed this event. These are
(i) Soon the Bao Dai regime in South Vietnam was over thrown by a coup led by Ngo Dinh Diem. Diem built a repressive authoritarian government. His dictatorial regime was opposed by the National Liberation Front (NLF).
(ii) The NLF fought for the unification of the country with the help of the Ho Chi Minh Government.
(iii) This alliance made the US worried. The US thought that the gaining of power by the communist was dangerous for them. So, they decided to intervene decisively and sent its army to Vietnam. In the early 1960s the US involvement escalated high and the war between the US and Vietnam continued till 1975. Thus, it can be concluded that the peace " negotitions in Geneva followed series of events that turned Vietnam into a battlefield.
