“The introduction of modern technology in agriculture meant many different changes’’. Describe in three points.

The dramatic expansion of agriculture was made possible by new technology. This meant many new changes as follows:

  1. The open field disappeared. The increase in food production was not only possible by radical innovation in agricultural technology, but also needed new lands under cultivation.
  2. The richer farmers expanded grain production, sold these grains in the world market, made profits and became powerful.
  3. Modern technology and enclosure displaced the poor from the land. The poor found that their customary rights were gradually disappearing. Deprived of their rights, they moved in search of jobs.
