Manish had a habit of switching off the appliances if they were used for long. His friends would however make fun of this habit of him. Without bothering about their remarks, Manish still stuck to his habits. On the basis of above passage, answer the following questions.
(i) Why did Manish switch off the appliances at regular intervals?
(ii) Do you agree/justify Manish’s act? Give reason.
(iii) Compare and contrast the values of Manish and his friends.

(i) After long use, the wires get heated up due to heating effect of current. This increases the resistance of the device resulting in consuming more power.
(ii) Manish is fully justified with his act because the device requires higher potential, thus it efficiently decreases.
(iii) Manish is a highly concerned, sincere, alert and sensible user of electricity. His friends need to look into the cause and reason of such practices instead of making fun of him unnecessarily.
