How are the following colloids different from each other in respect of their dispersion medium and dispersed phase?
Give one example of each.
(i) Emulsion - (ii) Aerosol
(iii) Hydrosol

(i) An emulsion is a colloidal dispersion in which both
the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium are liquids, e.g. milk.
(ii) A colloid in which a liquid or a solid is dispersed in a
gas is known as aerosol, e.g. fog, mist.
(iii) Aqueous sol (hydrosol), i.e. sol in which a dispersed
phase is dispersed in water (dispersion medium), e.g. blood.
