Explain the results of the First Carnatic War

Explain the results of the First Carnatic War.

Following are the results of the First Carnatic War:

  1. There were no territorial gains for either parties of the War. Because a treaty was negotiated between Britain and France, former territories had to be restored by both sides.
  2. The War did, however, increase the prestige and standing of the French since it was their side that had the upper hand in the War.
  3. The First Carnatic War effectively displayed the disunity and political weaknesses of the Indian rulers.
  4. The supremacy of the European military strength and discipline was on full display during the war. Despite their larger size, the Indian armies proved to be no match for the European armies in the War.
