In coastal areas, during daytime, land becomes hotter than water. Air above the land rises up and cool air from the sea rushes to take its place causing sea breeze. Reverse of this occurs during night. Air above the water is warmer than air above the land, so it rises up and cool air from land takes its place causing land breeze.
