Explain, how much portion of an atom
located at (i) corner and (ii) body centre of a cubic unit cell is part of its neighbouring unit cell?

(i) An atom at the corner of a cubic unit cell is shared by eight
neighbouring unit cells. Hence, l/8th portion of an atom located at the corner is a part of each neighbouring unit cell.
(ii) The atom present at the body centre wholly belongs to the
unit cell in which it is present as it is not shared by any other unit cell.
