Elucidate the legitimacy of the Indian Constitution in today’s modem era of 21st century.

The Constitution was made by the Constituent Assembly more than 60 years ago, but we accept it even in today’s modern era. The Constitution does not reflect the view of its members alone, but expresses a broad consensus of its time. Over the last years, several groups have questioned some provisions of the Constitution.

But no large social group or political party has ever questioned its legitimacy. This is an unusual achievement for the Indian Constitution on the world stage. It is so because many countries of the world have had to rewrite their Constitutions afresh just because their basic rules were not acceptable to major social groups or political parties. In some countries, the Constitution is, only a piece of paper and they do not follow it.

Thus, we can say that our Constitution has been successful from outright and it has held its legitimacy over the years.
