Elements of Yoga : There are eight stages of Yoga to secure purity of body, mind and soul.
These are (i) Yama, (ii) Niyama, (iii) Asana,
(iv) Pranayama, (v) Pratyahara, (vi) Dharana, (vii) Dhyana, (viii) Samadhi.
(i) Asana : These are slow stretching
movements performed to improve the whole body fitness. Asanas are the postures which keep the body healthy, balanced and help it in maintaining harmony with nature.
(ii) Pratyahara : These are performed to improve intellectual capability in order to develop inner mental strength. Whatever we take in through the senses affects the mind. This helps to free the senses from the object of desire.
