Why is the scarcity of water increasing day-by-day in India? Explain any three reasons
A. Reasons of scarcity of water are
(i) The rapidly growing population has increased the demand for water used for drinking and domestic purposes.
(ii) The rising demand of food and cash crops which require larger amount of water has reduced water available.
(iii) Water resources are being over-exploited about expanding irrigated areas and also to meet the need for growing another crop in the dry season.
(iv) Industrialisation has been increased and industrial processes require large amounts of water.
