Why do we use fuses in household circuits?

  1. To prevent damages due to overload we connect an electric fuse to the
    household circuits.
  2. Fuse is a thin wire of low melting point.
  3. When the current in the fuse exceeds, the fuse wire will be heat up and melt. Then circuit become open and prevent the flow of current into the household circuit.
  4. Hence all the electric devices are saved from damage that could be caused by overload.
