people in 1740 due to many reasons. Some of them are given as follow
(i) Henty Fielding’s ‘Tom Jones’ was issued in six volumes at three shillings each which made it affordable to the poor people because it was very expensive earlier.
(ii) There was an increase in the circulating libraries were started in 1740 and people had then easier access to books.
(iii) Technological improvements in printing brought down the prices of books and innovations in marketing led to expanded soles.
