What makes the eardrum vibrate?

#1

The sound wave travels through compression and rarefaction of the medium. When compression reaches to our eardrum, the pressure on the outside membrane increases and forces eardrum inward. Similarly, when the rarefaction of sound wave falls on the eardrum, the . pressure on the outside of the eardrum decreases and it moves outward. So, eardrum vibrates and we listen sound.
