A measuring instrument may not be actually zero at the starting of its scale, e.g., an ordinary metre scale may have worm off. Starting end, in a sliding calliper zero mark of sliding scale may. not coincide with zero marks of main scale, a weighing scale shows some weight even if no weight is put on it etc. Such errors are called zero errors.
