The typical properties of hydrogen are as follows :
(i) Its resemblance with halogen is only slight.
(ii) It has -1 and + 1 oxidation states.
(iii) It is electronegative in nature.
(iv) H20 is amphoteric whereas halogens form acidic, alkali metal from basic oxides.
(v) Dihydrogen does not have lone pair of electrons like halogens.
(vi) It forms largest number of covalent compounds.
