Water is very essential for life

Water is very essential for life. Write any three features each for plants and animals, which enable them to survive in water scarce environment.

The adaptations of plants to water scarcity are as follows:
Plants
(i) Desert plants have a thick cuticle on their leaf surface.
(ii) Their stomata are arranged in deep pits (sunken) to minimise water loss through transpiration.
(iii) Leaves are reduced to spines and the photosynthetic function is carried out by thick, fleshy flattened stems (phylloclades).
