In order to teach Private Quelch a lesson, Corporal Turnbull assigned cook house duties to Private Quelch. Corporal Turnbull was a strict disciplinarian and did not tolerate any nonsense. When interrupted twice in the middle of his lecture by Private Quelch, he did not appreciate it. He felt highly embarrassed and asked Private Quelch to give the lecture. When Private Quelch gave an unexceptional lecture, Corporal Turnbull, in order to avenge his disrespect, punished Private Quelch and allotted him cook house duties. This shows that it was a feeling of revenge that made him take such a drastic step and spoil his career. He should have had the values of tolerance and humility.
