So in this problem you would find the solution through a formula I learned in geometry. In here I would advise if you’re still confused to draw two different rectangles. Because these rectangles are similar, where similar rectangles mean that the side of one rectangle is proportionally similar to the side on the other rectangle.
In this instinct it would be Ab is similar to WX and AD is similar to WZ. And because of this you would write this out as X/12=8/16.
Now once you got this, I would write them out standing up, cross multiple them, where cross multiplying is where you times diagonally in basic terms. You obviously can’t times diagonally in the way I wrote them down here but if you write them standing up with X on top and 12 under X, you would then times diagonally (sorry if confusing). in this instinct, you would do X times 16 to get 16x, and 12 times 8 to get 96. 16x = 96.
Now you divide both sides by 16 to just only get the X, coming out to X = 6, where X is side AB in your rectangle. So AB = 6. I’m sorry if this is confusing I’m new to slander.
