#1

Rani was amazed to read about the layers and coverings in the plant. As her teacher taught her that like mammals, plants are also formed by various layers. Thus, forming the different plant system. As the epidermal tissue system forms the outermost covering of the body. She felt curious and asked her elder sister about the same, that how come this is possible. Her sister cleared all her doubts patiently.
(i) From where it is derived?
(ii) Why are outer wall of some plants is cutinised?
(iii) In some cases, the cuticle is reinforced by a layer of wax. Explain the reason.
(iv) Extract the message from Rani’s behaviour.

#2

(i) Epidermal tissue system is derived from protoderm.
(ii) Epidermal cells of aerial parts of the plants are cutinised. Cutin is a fatty waxy substances. The cutinised walls are less permeable to water. This is to maintain the water content of cells of aerial parts.
(iii) The cuticle is reinforced by a layer of wax in plants of extremely dry conditions. This is to avoid water lass due to excessive heat.
Rani was intelligent, curious, hard working by her behaviour.
