According to Newton’s first law of motion, a body can’t change its state of rest or of uniform motion along a straight line unless an external force acts on it. It means that the natural tendency of the material body is now continue in the state of rest or that of uniform motion which is termed as inertia. Thus Newton’s first law is the law of inertia.
