Mention the importance of microbes Streptococcus, Trichoderma and Monascus in medical sciences

  1. Streptococcus : Streptokinase produced by the bacterium Streptococcus and modified by genetic engineering is used as a ‘clot buster’ for removing clots from the blood vessel of patients who have undergone myocardial infraction leading to heart attack.
  2. Trichoderma polysporum : It produces cycloporin A, which is uded an immuno suppressive agent A in organ-transplant patients.
