When she was looking at the thermometer, she lost her concentration and became a little casual. The beaker containing boiling sulphuric acid fell on her clothes. Her clothes were burnt and she got severe burns on hands.
Answer the following questions:
(i) Why did she get severe bums on her hands?
(ii) What precautions do you suggest which she should take in future?

(i) Sulphuric acid is a very powerful dehydrating agent. It removed water content from the skin which got charred and burns appeared on hands.
(ii) She should always wear lab coat in the laboratory. She must keep herself at a distance from the table where the bath is placed. She should be always alert in the laboratory and should not lose concentration.
