Important features of spongia are
(i) It is also called hath sponge and the body surface is raised into small projection called the connules.
{ii) Depressions between the cannules bear small pores, the dermal ostia.
(iii) The oscula are numerous and skeleton is used for bathing, washing automobiles, cleaning furniture and window panes.
