'In the years to come, urban ‘ population growth will be more than double

'In the years to come, urban ‘ population growth will be more than double in the cities of the developing countries." Explain this statement.

Cities and urban areas are gaining an estimated 60 million people per year-over 1 million every week in the world. In many developing countries, cities are growing two or three times faster than the overall population, the UN projects.
Most of the world’s urban population (like most of the world’s total population) lives in developing countries.
This substantial increase in urban population is due to migration, natural population increase and reclassification of previously rural areas as urban areas.
In many developing countries urban areas are magnets that attract people from small towns and the rural areas, because cities offer more hope of jobs, education, healthcare and better living standards.
’The problems of rural areas like shrinking size of family farms, water shortages, increased rate of crimes,’ unemployment, poverty, alcoholism and beggary pushes people to move towards cities. This ’ is the reason why urban population in the cities of developing countries will rise rapidly.
Thus, it can be concluded that in the years to come, urban population growth wilkbe more that double in the cities of the developing countries.
