In a girdled plant, when water is supplied to the leaves above the girdle, leaves may remain green
for sometime then wilt and ultimately die. What does it indicates?

In a girdled plant, when water is supplied to the leaves above the girdle, leaves may remain green for sometime because leaves can synthesise their own food through photosynthesis, they wilt due to non-availability of water and ultimately die as there is no photosynthesis in absence of water.
