If you give me $100 then I will have half as much as you. but if I give you a $100 you will have 5 times as much money as I do. How much does each of us have?
so… presume, i have b and you have a
2(a+100) = b-100
2a+200 = b-100
2a-b=-300 remember this equation as x
5a-b=600 … now subtract equation a from this equation
so if you have $300 and i give you 100$ of my money, you will have 400$, this will be half of the amount of money that i have. This means that after i give you $100, i will have 800$ and you will have $400. To find out how much money i had before, you had 100 to 800 because i had lost $100. So i had 900 dollars at the start. And to find out how much money you had at the start, you would subtract 100 from 400, because you had gained $100. You had $300 at the start. So if you gave me $100 from the $300 you had, you will end up with $200 and i will end up with $1000.1000 is 200 times 5. Problem solved…
