Amniocentesis is on such technique that helps to determine any chromosomal abnormalities or genetic disorder and sex as well as fetal infections, by using minute amount of amniotic fluid, surrounding the foetus.

This ban is necessary as this sex determination technique has been misused to kill girl child before birth.
