How widely used was scale armor in middle ages? How good was it compared to other types of armors?
Scale Armor was not widely used in the Middle Ages due to the lack of skill and knowledge of how to create the armor. Two variations of the armor were used, however: Brigantine and Coat of Plates which were effectively used by soldiers throughout this period. As an armor, it was better than chain mail in protection against both piercing and blunt force attacks, but gave the wearer far less maneuverability and freedom of movement.
