How were American Indians replaced by White Americans?
Answer:

  • As Indians were driven out, the white Americans came in successive waves.
  • They settled on the Appalachian plateau and then moved into the Mississippi valley.
  • They slashed and burnt forests, cleared the land for cultivation and built log cabins in the forest clearings. Then they ploughed the cleared and fenced fields and sowed corn and wheat.
