How Rutherford proved that positively charged particles are present in the nucleus of an atom?

Rutherford allowed to bombard positively charged alfa - particles over a gold foil, and observed that few alfa - particles were bounced back. It shows that the particles present in the nucleus of an atom are also positively charged which has repelled the alfa - particles.
