How huge were russian losses in ww2?
Russia lost the most soldiers and civilians out of any European nation in World War II, with over 20 million people either being killed or dying due to effects of the war. Large areas of Russia were also devastated and destroyed during this period.
The losses were so severe that over 80% of the men born in Russia in 1923 were dead by 1945. It took years for the country to recover and most towns and villages lost a large percentage of their population during this time.
